There are various shades of life, journey to nostalgic lanes and the beauty of nature on the canvases of artist Anu Kumar. Reflecting these emotions through 15 paintings is Kumar’s exhibition titled “Art Beat”,at Books and Brew,Sector 16. Created over the last one year, one finds the artist’s signature mix of oil paint, textures and knife paintings. An educationist as well,Kumar says she’s always been passionate about art,but didn’t pursue it professionally for lack of time and commitment.

“Once the kids were on their own,I got back to painting and gradually knife painting became my forte, though I keep working on mediums such as soft pastels, pen, watercolours and the oil paintings. After a long day’s work,I paint at our farm house and give colours to my expressions,’’ says the artist.

In this exhibition,Anu presents a series of artworks with a riot of colours celebrating the facets of life and freedom, nature and memories, along with all its imperfections,“I strive to express many emotions through my works and am not bound by convention,’’ she says.
