Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to invite him for the inauguration of the Khalsa Heritage Centre at Sri Anandpur Sahib in the first fortnight of November.
Badal also urged the Prime Minister to lay the foundation of Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Mohali.
Badal sought the Prime Ministers personal intervention to direct the Ministry of Housing,Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation for the expeditious clearance of HUDCO loan of Rs 750 crore to provide basic amenities like roads, streets, sewerage, water supply and street lighting in the urban sector.
The Punjab Chief Minister also sought more time for the execution of restoration works of infrastructure damaged due to floods from the current 45 days to 6-9 months,as it was not feasible to undertake the completion of these works in such a short time period.
He also took up with the PM the matter of upward revision of norms for payment of relief to affected farmers under State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF). Saying that the existing relief norms were inadequate,he appealed that in case of 100 per cent crop loss,a farmer should at least be paid Rs10,000 per acre.
