The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vittaran Nigam (UHBVN) has announced that Sectors 2,9,7,17 and feeders will face power cuts from 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday.

Chandigarh: The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vittaran Nigam (UHBVN) has announced that Sectors 2,9,7,17 and feeders will face power cuts from 9 am to 2 pm on Saturday. This will be on account of an essential maintenance programme at the sub-station in Sector 1.

Rally planned

Chandigarh: The Panchkula branch of the Family Planning Association of India and the Inner Wheel Club of Panchkula organised a rally on the theme of Universal Access to Reproductive Health Services to mark the World Population Day. School children,volunteers and the the organisations’ staff participated in the rally which started from Gita Model school,Haripur and terminated at FPA India,Panchkula branch. Medical Officer,Dr Sangeeta Sharma,addressed the participants.

FIR against HUDA man

Chandigarh: An FIR was lodged against Superintendent Engineer Hardip Singh,Horticulture wing of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in Panchkula on Thursday. He has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly helping a businessman commit fraud against the department by submitting quotations for fictitious firms.

Councillors complain

Chandigarh: Councillors of ward 22 and 23 Davesh Moudgil and Jannat Jahan respectively on Friday apprised the mayor about the problems in their areas. The councilors demanded that road gullies be repaired and cleaned,proper drinking water facilities be made available in the area and roads be repaired.

Student arrested

Chandigarh: THE Chandigarh Police on Thursday arrested Vikram Pandey,a third year student from the Meteorology Department of Punjab Engineering College for allegedly beating his classmate Abhinay Louna. Three others,Gurjit Kumar,Pawan,and Runit,are also among the accused,but are on the run.

Boy missing

Chandigarh: A 13-year-old boy,Ashok Bahadur,has reportedly been missing since July 2 but the matter was reported to the police and an FIR lodged only on July 12. Meanwhile,the family tried to find him on its own. According to sources,Ashok went missing last year too.

PGI superintendent

Chandigarh: Dr Ashok Kumar,Deputy Medical Superintendent at PGIMER,is going on a two-year deputation period as Medical Superintendent at the upcoming AIIMS,Rishikesh.
