Chibber emerges as winner in close contest

The match was poised for a close finish and just when things were going his way,Mohan Singh made a foul after potting the black ball. That not only handled Chibber the third frame,47-49,but also a berth into the second round of the ongoing Second Chandigarh Club Snooker and Billiards Amateur Championship being held at Chandigarh Club on Tuesday.

Earlier in the match,Chibber claimed the first frame,58-45,to gain an early momentum in the match. But Singh made a good comeback into the match by winning the second frame,59-42. However,the third and final frame was won by Chibber,49-47,as he made his way into the second round of the championship.

In another match of the day,Karandeep Singh Kochar ended the challenge of Kapil Kheterpal with a 2-1 (52-45,34-63,81-31) win to surge ahead in the championship. Kochar first claimed the first frame,52-45,before Kheterpal bounced back into the match grabbing the second frame,63-34.

The final set saw Kochar coming up with a stellar display as he claimed the third and final set,81-31,to advance ahead.

It was tough going for Jaspal Singh as he had to fight his way back for a 2-1 (62-41,19-58,53-29) win over Kartik Sood. Singh easily won the first frame,62-41,before Sood made it 1-1 by winning the second frame,58-19. Singh played well to claim the third and final frame,53-29,to march ahead in the second round.

In other matches of the day,Aman Bhasin and Ajay Singla registered wins in their respective matches to surge ahead.
