It’s perhaps the best time to be enjoying cricket, specially in its fast and furious format. While all of us made the most of the just concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) even though it was not on home turf, the ICC World Twenty-20 Championships is all set to roll out from June 5 to keep you engrossed. Despite the lull in the economy and the mood,IPL made many head out and cheer the teams in groups. Cashing in on the cheer and cricket fervour were the citys restaurants and bars that propped up big screens and offered special meals. Well,if you enjoyed all of that last time around, then heres the good news. The big screens are up again and so are the special deals. Heres where to make the most of it.
Timing it just right is Zinc, the restaurant and lounge in Sector 26 with its Howz That,Zinc Cricket Innings. From the way the lounge has been dressed up to the menu on offer and the dress code of the staff, its cricketing special all the way. As manager Mohan Singh Negi tells us,Cricket is a passion and why not make the most it. We want everyone to have a good time. While you can catch the game on the plasma screens, you can sip on specially put together starters, cocktails, mocktails and the main course which brings in Indian and Continental dishes. Adding to the cheer will be the music that will be dished out by DJs Sameer Singh and Rohit of Chakra:Vu. Not just tracks put together but theme-based tunes is what youll get to hear, they chorus.
Elsewhere,at Hotel Shivalik View the cricket menu is set to return. We had rolled out a spirited bar and snacks menu during the IPL matches and it was really well received, informs the hotels banquet manager Jagan Chaudhry. On popular demand, the menu which comprised of groovy cocktails and snacks like Fish Tikka Square Cut (Ajwani Fish Tikka),Sixer Chicken Tikka (Murg Malai Tikka),Chicken Short Leg (Tangri Kebab) and Bail Out Croquette (Potatoes and corn) will be served once again during the ICC World Twenty-20 matches that are on in London.
When it comes to sports and action on the floor,Score, the sports bar in Sector 8 has been a popular place to park yourself during match timings. With the Twenty-20 World Cup on,manager Harinder Singh Saini informs of special screenings once again. Apart from the plasma TVs beaming the matches,we will have bigger screens up as well apart from discounts on drinks and food, Saini adds.
Interestingly, with May and now June fast turning out to be a dull month in terms of entertainment with no films hitting the big screens, the cricketing action is grabbing more eyeballs. During IPL,big screens apart,we ran special promotions that were lapped up by the city. We often had families timing their meals out with the second innings, shares Hotel Western Courts group general manager Rajeev Kakkar who is set to roll out the specials once again starting with a free pint of beer with their buffet. Go on,make the most of it.
