After UT Adviser Pradip Mehra,it was the turn of CHB Chairman Mohanjit Singh to be transferred. Singh,a 1991 batch IAS officer, had taken over as CHB Chairman in July 2006. While he was transferred last year, his request for extension was accepted. His term was to end next month.
During his tenure,Singh entered into a confrontation with the UT Finance Department after he accused the faulty policies of the department for the Boards bankruptcy. He had written a strongly worded letter to UT Adviser Pradip Mehra. It was during his tenure that the Housing Board was criticised for the high prices of two-room flats in Sector 51(Rs 50 lakh). CHB staff had expressed resentment after the draw of lots for the Employees Housing Scheme in Sector 63,arguing that unsuccessful employees should be given flats.
Municipal Commissioner Dr Roshan Sunkarias term is nearing its end. The Punjab government has sent a panel of names to the UT. They are Samir Kumar,Vivek Pratap Singh and S R Laddar.
