Chandigarh: Woman found murdered in hotel room, suspect absconding
The police said it appeared that the victim was sleeping when the suspect slit her throat. The victim was found lying in a pool of blood by a housekeeping staff around 10.30 am Friday.

A woman was found murdered inside her hotel room near IT Park in Mani Majra, Chandigarh Friday. The victim’s throat was slit. The police seized a knife from the hotel room. They said the primary suspect, a male acquaintance of the deceased, was absconding.
The couple came to the hotel on March 8. The man identified himself as Ashish Lohan, 25, of Badmajra village in Mohali. The victim was introduced as Alena, 20. Ashish Lohan and Alena had introduced themselves as a married couple.
The police said it appeared that the victim was sleeping when the suspect slit her throat. The victim was found lying in a pool of blood by a housekeeping staff around 10.30 am Friday.
A source said, “A housekeeping staff found the door of the victim’s room unlocked. A foul smell was also emanating from the room. Suspecting something was wrong, the employee entered the room and found the woman in a pool of blood. Her throat was slit gruesomely. The staff member raised an alarm. The local police were informed. A team of forensic experts visited the spot and found a sharp-edged knife in the room.”
Sources said a police team visited the address in Badmajra village mentioned on the Aadhaar card of Ashish Lohan.
Badmajra residents informed the police that the couple was staying there for the last five to six months. They told the police that the couple was working in hotels, marriages, and parties. Ashish Lohan worked as a cook and Alena as a waitress.
The body was kept in the mortuary of GMSH-16 for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered at the IT Park Police Station.
