Chandigarh:Carrying forward the good form,in reply to Ropar’s first innings total of 196 runs,Chandigarh ended the day at 144 for the loss of three wickets on the first day of the match played during U-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament for ML Markan Trophy on Saturday. Winning the toss,Ropar opted to bat first. Apart from Nikhil (71),Rohit Sharma (32) and Amritpal (31),Ropar batsman struggled to counter Chandigarh bowlers. Chandigarh leg-spinner Shubham Chand bowled impressively to scalp six wickets while Bhagmender bagged three dismissals to put Chandigarh in driver’s seat. Chasing Ropar’s total of 196 runs,Chandigarh ended the day with 144 runs on the board. For Chandigarh,Bagmender Singh was unbeaten on 77 on the crease.

Sonu takes Alchemist Ltd to victory

Chandigarh:Riding high on Sonu’s scintillating knock of 69 runs,Alchemist Ltd recorded a 78-run win over Quantum Solutions in a match played during CII KC Royal Park Corporate Cricket Cup played at GNPS,Sector 36,Chandigarh,on Saturday. Batting first,Alchemist Ltd scored 222 runs in their allotted 20 overs,with Sonu scoring highest 69 runs. In reply, Quantum Solutions were bowled out for 144 runs with Pardeep bagging three wickets for the winning team. In another match,Shree Ganesh Corporate Services defeated Trigma Solutions.

State boxing tournament from today

Chandigarh:The 35th Junior Men and Ninth Women Chandigarh State Boxing Championship will be held at Sector 42 Sports Complex,Sector 42,from April 29. Boxers born in the year 1994 and 1995 are eligible to take part in both the categories. All the boxers are required to bring the authority letter signed from the head of the institution along with original date of birth certificate and I-Card/medical book of IBF at the time of weigh-in at 8 am on April 29. The men’s and women’s teams for the National Championship will also be selected after the championships.
