IN order to implement e-governance in the city beautiful and improve public service delivery, the UT Administration launched three services on Wednesday.
The services, namely permission for using loudspeakers, solvency certificate and senior citizen card, will be made at the Sampark Centres.
Three existing online services— payment of electricity and water bills and property tax- have also been integrated with the e-district portal, chdservices.gov.in. In August, income certificate, late birth and death entry order, residence certificate and dependency certificate were also digitised.
Kashish Mittal, Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-SDM (South), said, “Bringing services under electronic delivery is reducing citizens’ visits to the government departments. Sampark delivery channels are gradually becoming the preferred modes of service delivery. We have carried out extensive process re-engineering at our end, thus reducing the number of levels through which an application is processed. In the coming months, endeavour would be to bring more services online and improve the service delivery timelines.”
Director Information Technology, Prince Dhawan, said “Technology has been around for some time now, but it is now that we are being able to leverage its potential. The physical movement of files between officials has been eliminated and digital signatures have replaced manual signatures.”
Residents can visit the online portal, sampark.chd.nic.in., for further details. About 35 services have been planned to be launched under this e-governance project that is being undertaken by the Department of Information Technology, with the state NIC as the implementing agency.
Rate efficiency
City residents will now be able to rate the efficiency of the online grievance management system of the Municipal Corporation (MC) on a scale of 1 to 5. MC Commissioner Bhawna Garg said that this exercise would be helpful in knowing the departments of the civic body that were quick in resolving the complaints of the citizens. From now on, residents can also submit complaints related to registration of births and deaths, work in the Colony Branch, and paid parking.
