Also, the services related to the issuance of driving license have also been made available online through the Parivahan Portal of the central government. From issuance of a driving licence to transfer of vehicle ownership, now all services provided by Chandigarh Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) will not be entertained offline from June 1 except vehicle registration. The vehicle registration services will be entertained offline only on prior appointments.
Pradhuman Singh, director, transport said RLA’s 14 services went completely online from March 14, still people are coming to their offices. “We are giving them time till June 1 and will not entertain them offline post the deadline. However, the services regarding vehicle registration that are not mentioned in the list will be entertained offline in the office of RLA on the basis of prior online appointments only,” Pradyuman, who is also the incharge of the RLA said.
Services that will be online completely include renewal of registration certificate (RC), duplicate RC, transfer of vehicle ownership, registration of vehicles purchased in a public auction, change in address on RC, removal, addition or continuation of hypothecation, issuance of no-objection certificate, cancellation of RC and updating mobile number in RC, and issuance/renewal of fitness certificate, among others.
Also, the services related to the issuance of driving license have also been made available online through the Parivahan Portal of the central government.
To apply online for getting a licence, one has to upload documents and pay the fees as done for registration of vehicles. The physical presence of the applicant is required for submission of photograph and biometrics. However, applicants can directly visit the office of RLA without any prior online appointment after applying for these services online on the Parivahan Portal.
Work is also underway to discontinue the requirements of biometrics and photograph and the same will also be done in due course so that these services could also be availed by the general public without visiting the office of RLA, the official said.
“Any individual desirous of availing the services related to vehicle registration as mentioned above and driving licence, can apply online through the portal (parivahan.gov.in or mParvahan application).
Necessary links/manuals/procedures and documents required have also been made available on the official website of this office http://www.chdtransport.gov.in.
