Even though he missed the cut in last week’s USD 312,000 Queen’s Cup at Samui,Thailand,Chandigarh golfer Ajeetesh Sandhu did return with scores of 78 and 79 in the respective two rounds at the Samui Golf Course. The 21-year Chandigarh youngster will be teeing off at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters starting today at Seri Selangor Course in Petaling Jaya,Malaysia and the golfer expects himself to do better than the Thailand tourney this week.

“The fairways here in Seri Selangor Course are bit rough due to the weather and they will pose tough challenge to the golfers. The greens here are smooth and putting will be the key in the championship. I returned with scores of 78 and 79 last week and I am keen to improve that performance. Playing in summers is always a challenge in this part of the world and I am counting on my putting to do the work for me in this tournament,” shared the talented golfer. Sandhu will be accompanied by other Chandigarh golfers Sujjan Singh and Abhijeet Singh Chadha in the tournament and Sandhu believes that their presence will certainly boost his confidence.

“All three of us played in the Queen’s Cup at Samui,Thailand too and it’s always a nice feeling to play in the same tournament. Abhijeet has been a close friend and we often practice at Chandigarh Golf Club. Sujjan has been on the domestic scene for long and his inputs are always valuable,” shared Sandhu.

Upcoming Thai Arnond Vongvanij, who finished second at the Queen’s Cup on on Sunday, also hopes a new putter will guide him to a second Asian Tour title. “There were a lot of reasons why I played well last week and putting was one of them. Maybe it had something to do with my new putter. I used my old putter for eight years so I’m quite surprised that I changed it,” said Arnond. Siddikur is determined to build on his solid track record at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters where he has yet to finish outside the top-five since 2011. He was in contention in last week’s Queen’s Cup before finishing tied eighth.
