Chandigarh: Due to cold and fog, no physical classes for students up to STD VIII till Jan 11, says UT official
According to the meteorological department, with the Western disturbance active in the region, Chandigarh may experience light rain on Sunday and Monday.

Given the prevailing weather conditions in the region, including cold spells and predicted dense fog, physical classes for students up to Class VIII in government, government-aided and recognised private schools in Chandigarh will be suspended until January 11, an order released by the Director of School Education, Chandigarh, stated on Saturday.
However, schools have been instructed to organise online classes for students from 9 am onwards and regulate the timings of school staff accordingly.
For students of Classes IX to XII, schools have been instructed not to open before 9.30 am and to close no later than 3.30 pm. To avoid disruption of pre-board examinations (if any), the schools will open for pre-board classes, if required, at 9 am, and the timings for teachers will be regulated accordingly, the order stated.
According to the meteorological department, with the Western disturbance active in the region, Chandigarh may experience light rain on Sunday and Monday. However, on Saturday, there was a rise of 1.1°C in the average temperature.
