To strengthen the civil defence system, the Chandigarh Administration has planned to increase the air raid warning systems from 20 to 50. The decision has been taken a day after blackout rehearsal took place in Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, the administration has also decided that satellite phones will be used in case of communication breakdown. Also, more volunteers are being planned to be enrolled, as presently 300 civilians and 600 NSS volunteers have been trained in civil defence. The administration also plans to give uniforms to civil defence personnel.
