The Sekhri group emerged victorious in the Central Club elections which were held on Sunday. While all the candidates won the elections unopposed and unanimously,the polling was held for one post of executive membership on Sunday.
The voting process continued from 11 am to 5 pm. The four elected executive members are Jaspal Singh (162 votes),GS Kalsi (156),AS Mehndiratta (154) and I Moudgil (117). While all the four elected members were of the Major (retd) JS Sekhri group,the elections were held for an independent candidate,SK Pinua (109). It was close but we got all the seats. The one seat reserved for a woman candidate was bagged by Anju Menon after Manjit Bhalla withdrew her nomination, said Major Sekhri.
The entire process was very peaceful. There were no objections from anywhere, added Major Sekhri.
Major (retd) JS Sekhri was elected as the president of the Central Club unopposed on May 15,on the day of withdrawal of nominations. All his opponents withdrew.
A formal announcement of the panel was made on Sunday with RL Arora as vice-president,Vinod Khanna as honorary secretary,Ashok Malhotra as joint secretary and RK Bansal as treasurer elected unopposed.
