Candid Camera

Vijendra Trighatia is a part-time photographer with a full-time passion for photography

Vijendra Trighatia is a part-time photographer with a full-time passion for photography. The 55-year-old,who took up photography three years ago,is happy to view the world through the camera. Now,a collection of his photographs is on display at Café Books n Brew,Sector 16. “The camera is a means to give expression to my view of life. Photography is all about feelings. Even inanimate objects captured in a picture convey thoughts,’’ he says. Trighatia seeks to develop a people-centric collection of images and moments from everyday life, with an interesting play of light and dark.

The Hola Mohalla collection is the result of a labour of abiding love that Trighatia has for the people and culture of Punjab. Since childhood,he has been fascinated by the martial drills of the Nihang community. “It was a dream come true when I got an opportunity to photograph them last year. The grand finale of Hola Mohalla is where machismo is at its peak. I stood in the path of the charging horses, took my shot and quickly moved away,” she says.

Trighatia says he wanted to display the pictures at a café as it would afford an opportunity to the youth in the city to not only come closer to their heritage, but also experience the thrill and action that is unique to their own backyard.

The exhibition is on till June 16
