Retd judge to probe Hondh killings
CHANDIGARH: A former judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court,Justice T P Garg,has been appointed to inquire into the alleged killings of Sikhs in Hondh-Chillar village during the 1984 riots. Announcing this on Sunday,Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the commission was appointed on a demand from different sections of society for a probe into the incident. The commission will submit its report to the state government as soon as possible,but not later than six months from the date of its first sitting.
Plead reservation issue with Centre: CM
CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Sunday the Haryana government had already written to the Centre urging it to grant reservation to the Jat community. He said leaders demanding reservation should plead their case with the Centre as the issue was not under the jurisdiction and purview of the state government. The CM said the Centre had referred the matter to the Backward Classes Commission.
LTA for construction workers in Haryana
CHANDIGARH: Construction workers in Haryana will now be able to visit their hometowns once a year without having to pay for the tickets,and their wives will be given a free sari and footwear every year. This was announced by Pt Shiv Charan Lal Sharma,Minister of State for Labour and Employment,after chairing a meeting of the Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board on Sunday. The cost of the visit ,sari and footwear will be borne by the board.
Hooda offers tips to students
CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday spoke to students of the Maharashtra Institute of Technology,School of Government,Pune,on the characteristics needed to be a mass leader and the efforts required to undertake development. Hooda interacted with the students in Delhi on the topic,Haryana as a Developing State.
Farmers commission set up in HAU
CHANDIGARH: The office of the Haryana Farmers Commission was formally set up at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University on Sunday. Vice-Chancellor Dr K S Khokar inaugurated it in the presence of panel chairman Dr R S Paroda.
