First-ever 1 MW solar plant launched
Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda launched the first ever 1 MW solar plant in Nandha Village (Bhiwani District,Haryana) which is an initiative by C & S Electric Limited. Hooda congratulated the company in pioneering Haryanas first MW rating grid connected Solar PV Power Plant ahead of the committed timeline. He also stressed on the importance of production of eco-friendly clean energy as the future of the energy sector.
Rail traffic disrupted
Jalandhar: Rail traffic on the line between Jalandhar and Phagwara was disrupted for around an hour on Sunday evening after a high tension power wire above the track broke at Chaheru Railway Station.
Panchayats urged to fight graft
Chandigarh: Chairman of the Haryana Public Service Commission,General(Retd) DP Vats on Sunday exhorted the members of panchayats to be up in arms against corruption. Vats,who was interacting with the media at Rohtak said unless people at the village level were made aware of corruption,it cannot be curbed.
Sukhbir to attend 41 rallies
Chandigarh: Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal will address 41 rallies as part of campaigning for the SGPC polls between August 29 and September 11. Disclosing this in a statement released here on Sunday,party secretary and spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said Sukhbir will also campaign in Haryana for two days on September 12th and 13th.
Congress suspends member
Chandigarh: Citing indiscipline,the Congress has suspended Kamal Sachdeva from primary membership for trying to undermine the image of the party with his behaviour. According to the suspension notice issued to Sachdeva,he has been asked as why further action should not be taken against him. He has been asked to submit his reply with seven days. The notice said the PCC president Amarinder had taken a very serious view of Sachdevas press statement published in various newspapers giving communal colour to the enquiry being conducted into the incident during the visit of the party incharge Gulchain Singh Charak to Jalandhar on August 18.
Haryana to set up accident control centres
Chandigarh: Haryana government has decided to establish two major Accident Hazards Controls Cells at Panipat and Gurgaon at the cost of Rs. 1.63 crore. The main function of these cells will be to frame necessary measures on major accidents in factories in a time bound manner. The government had also decided to establish two Industrial Hygiene Laboratories for the first time in the State at Gurgaon and Faridabad and Rs 85 lakh has been sanctioned to purchase equipments for these laboratories.
HAFED expands projects
Chandigarh: The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (HAFED) has expanded its Organic Growers Groups Projects from the existing area of 750 acres to 2500 acres in the districts of Sirsa. HAFED had been declared as the nodal agency by the state government for construction of godowns under the 10 year guarantee scheme of the Government of India. A total of 18,59,835 MT capacity for 18 centres for construction of godowns under Ten Years Guarantee (PEG 2008) Scheme had been finalised so far.
Retd armymen to be involved in teacher test
Chandigarh: Haryana School Education Board,Bhiwani has decided to appoint retired army officers of the level of Junior Commissioned Officers for the smooth conduct of the State Teacher Eligibility Test,which is scheduled to be held on September 24 and 25. The retired officers will be deputed to all the examination centres to check for various discrepancies.
Haryana to improve ITIs
Chandigarh: In a bid to improve the quality of training in government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs),the Haryana Government has decided to upgrade 47 government ITIs under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode for the year 2011-12. Industrialists willing to adopt government ITIs and contribute in the process of up-gradation of skills will be included in the management of individual government ITIs.
Polio campaign in Punjab
Chandigarh: As many as 3,73,719 children below the age of 5 years belonging to families migrating to Punjab were administered polio immunisation drops on Sunday,the first day of the three-day sub-national immunisation campaign for pulse polio held across Punjab. The state health department has set up 3,147 teams and 629 supervising teams to achieve the overall target of covering 7,86,777 migratory children in Punjab during the campaign,which will end on August 30.
