Free food for students at sports school

The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday reiterated that the upcoming sports school at village Ghudda would be one of the best in its category in the country. Presiding over a joint meeting of the senior officers of School Education and Sports departments to review the progress of the school with hostel facility,he approved free daily diet up to Rs 200 per student. Giving nod to appoint a director to run the school,Badal asked the sports department to chalk out a plan to establish a corpus fund to make the school self-sustainable.

Jewellery shop robber held

The Kurukshetra Police arrested the kingpin of an inter-state gang of robbers,Suresh,of Sirmour district ,after a chase of around nine hours. Suresh and his accomplices,including Vikram,a Yamunanagar resident; Munish,a Delhi resident and Khan,a resident of Uttar Pradesh; had allegedly robbed Rs 10 lakh in cash and gold jewellery at gunpoint from a Kurukshetra-based jeweller Sandeep on Wednesday. Suresh was later produced in the court,from where he was remanded to five days’ police custody.
