Shimla without milk supply

SHIMLA: Local residents and tourists in Shimla went without tea,on Friday,as the town had no supply of milk following a call given by the Milk Suppliers Association (MSA) who are seeking a higher commission on the sale of milk supplied to them for retail distribution. MSA president,Puran Chand said that the supply will remain affected on Saturday. The retailers have been demanding Rs 1 per 500 ml of milk against the 25p that is being paid now.

4 Pak boys stray into India

AMRITSAR: Four Pakistani boys strayed into Indian territory on Thursday when they were taking a bath in Jalalia rivulet on the Indo-Pak border in Bamial sector of Gurdaspur district. The boys,who are engineering students,identified themselves as Mohammad Ashfaque (20),Mohammad Jehradh (19),Shohrabh Khan (19) and Mohammad Chadhary (19) all belonging to Lahore district. Border Security Force (BSF) officials said: “Three Pakistani mobile phones and Pak currency of Rs 35 was recovered from them,nothing objectionable was found to be in their possession.” However,the boys have been interrogated,BSF authorities said: “This is the areas where in April last year two Pak intruders were gunned down. This is a very sensitive matter. No doubt they seem to be innocent but after completing our interrogation,we will ask the senior authorities in Delhi and they might be handed over to the Pak Rangers on humanitarian grounds.”

PCC spokesman is counsel on AFT panel

SHIMLA: Kuldeep Singh Rathore,who is the Pradesh Congress Committee ( PCC) spokesman and also a practicing lawyer,has been included in the panel of senior counsels for Army,Navy and Air force. He is to appear before the Armed Forces Tribunal at Chandigarh. The order has been issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice,Government of India. Geeta Singhwal is another member of the panel with Rathore.

6 heatstroke deaths in Bathinda in 2 weeks

Bathinda: With the temperature rising above 40 degrees celsius in Bathinda,the hot weather has proven deadly,especially for the economically weaker section of the society. The president of Sahara Jan Sewa (a local NGO) Vijay Goel said: “As many as six people have died due to sunstroke in the last fortnight and everyday we rush five to six patients to the hospital for treatment.” The NGO offers immediate assistance to victims of sunstroke. Goel said: “We have arrangements for providing first-aid to sunstroke victims before rushing them to the hospital. Anyone can contact us for assistance at 9855133333.”

New postings for Haryana officers

Chandigarh: Raj Kumar,Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary,Cooperation Haryana has been posted as Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary,Revenue and Disaster Management and Consolidation Departments against a vacant post. Krishna Mohan,Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary,Forests and Wildlife has been given the additional charge of Cooperation Department vice Raj Kumar.
