After tussles witnessed in the past few days over distribution of tickets, three senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders put up a united front while outlining the plans for the elections.

Party president Sanjay Tandon, former MP Satya Pal Jain and former Minister Harmohan Dhawan, while addressing a conference spoke about the party’s plans.

Dhawan, who was made president of the campaign committee, said that each of the three leaders would hold meetings in three wards, thus covering nine wards everyday. He said that Congress has always gained from division of votes of the Opposition but this time it (Cong) would be defeated by a huge margin.

Jain meanwhile said that there was a need for an anti-defection law in the Municipal Corporation. “During the last election,BJP and Congress got almost equal seats. However, due to defections by some councillors, the Congress got majority. People who want to defeat Congress should support SAD-BJP combine,” he said.

He added that no development took place over the last 10 years and issues like names not being present on invitation cards were blown up.

President of the city unit of BJP Sanjay Tandon said that the party would like to take up problems of sanitation, traffic hazards and parking. “We would be releasing our vision document in the coming days. A policy for betterment of the parking problems would be prepared keeping the next 10 years in mind. A hospital in Manimajra is another priority,” said Tandon.

Talking about tussles over the past few days,he said that there was no disparity in the thought process of the three leaders. He said that with around 165 applications for 22 seats, some people had to be deprived of tickets.
