In a separate incident the same day, the Chandigarh Police arrested four accused for attacking and looting a woman in Manimajra, as part of their ongoing crackdown on street crimes and robberies across the city.
In the first case, registered at the Mauli Jagran police station, complainant Ankush Goyal, a businessman from Panchkula, reported that around 7.30 pm on October 22, while driving towards Mauli Jagran, his car was hit by a black Thar vehicle with 3-4 unidentified occupants. The assailants allegedly got down, assaulted him, and snatched Rs 8.50 lakh in cash before fleeing the scene, he alleged.
The injured complainant was later admitted to GMCH-32, Chandigarh, for treatment.
Police teams are analysing CCTV footage and technical evidence to trace the vehicle and identify the suspects.
Meanwhile, another case was registered at the IT park police station, following a complaint from a 38-year-old woman from New Indra Colony, Manimajra, alleging that on October 22, a group of men, identified as Hunny, Aashu, Chatu, Labbu, Kaku, Naveen, Kalu, Rajan and others, attacked her near House No. 148, New Indra Colony, with rods and batons. The accused allegedly robbed her purse containing Rs 10,000, a mobile phone, and important documents before escaping.
During the investigation, the police arrested four accused: Naveen (30), Ansul alias Kalu (21), Vijay alias Labbu (33), and Harpal Singh (24), all residents of New Indra Colony, Manimajra. They are currently under interrogation to identify their accomplices and recover the stolen items, police said.
