Senior Congress leader and former finance minister Birender Singh filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday,in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
It was a show of strength by Birender who lost the last Assembly election to Indian National Lok Dal supremo Om Prakash Chautala from Uchana Kalan constituency. Congress general secretary and in-charge of Haryana affairs Prithvi Raj Chavan and Union Tourism Minister Kumari Selja were also present as Birender filed his papers. After his defeat,Birender was appointed co-chairman of the coordination committee of the Congress.
