Bhullar 3-under,Thaworn takes lead

Bhullar was three-under through 15 holes,even as the Thai legend Thaworn Wiratchant renewed his Malaysian love affair firing an opening six-under-par 66 for the clubhouse lead. The first round could not be completed as there was a two-hour delay due to a thunderstorm in the afternoon at the par 72,6977 Yards Kota Permai GCC course.

Bhullar opened with a birdie and then had a bogey on the second. He birdied eighth and bogeyed ninth. But on the back nine he was blazing hot as he birdied 10th,13th and 14th and had just parred the 15th when play was called off.

Thaworn,whose record 13 Asian Tour titles include two victories in Malaysia,carded one eagle,four birdies and a lone bogey at the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club,a venue where he was victorious in 2001. Himmat Rai,Vikrant Chopra and Rashid Khan,all three members of the youth brigade of Indian golf were two-under.

Rai and Chopra had played 12 holes,while Khan had played only nine. Veteran Feroz Ali was one-under through nine,while Ajeetesh Sandhu was even through nine. The only two Indians to finish their rounds were Chiragh Kumar (73) and Gaurav Ghei (76).

American Jonathan Moore,the reigning Asian Development Tour (ADT) Order of Merit champion,recovered from two early bogeys to shoot a 67 for second place while Javi Colomo of Spain was a further stroke back in the RM1.2 million (approximately US $ 395,000) Asian Tour event.
