SAD candidate from Ferozepur Sher Singh Ghubaya today filed his nomination papers. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was also present on the occasion and claimed Ghubaya would win with a margin of more than 1 lakh votes. On being questioned about his asset details,he said,It is a difficult question, you can ask the details from my lawyer.
As per the affidavit filed,Ghubaya is a matriculate and his wife and covering candidate Krishna Rani has only completed her primary education. Ghubaya is an MLA from the Jalalabad constituency.
He always speaks about being from a poor family, but the list of his assets tell a different story. His family owns agricultural property worth Rs 1.05 crore and non-agricultural property worth Rs 73 lakh. He also owns a house in Jalalabad, the market value of which is around Rs 45 lakh. Property worth Rs 70 lakh is in his name. Ghubaya and Krishna Rani are also partners in KB Industries Paper Board, poultry farm in Sukhara Badla and JK Bricks located in Lamchor Kalan. Ghubaya has declared Rs 20,000 in cash and his wife Rs 40,000. Even though Krishna Rani is the covering candidate, she did not come forward till DC Megh Raj called her name. Since she was not able to read the declaration, the DC had to read it out for her.
Interestingly, when was asked if he had filed his nomination papers in order,he asked,What are nomination papers?
