Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Saturday said the current Assembly session was just eyewash aimed at completing a mandatory legislative formality as the House was necessarily needed to be convened within six months. Moreover,he added,Akali-BJP government wanted to pass the Right to Service Act in this session while overlooking all other issues of public importance which called for urgent attention. Talking to reporters after coming out of the Assembly,Capt Amarinder said the government knew it would have been floored on the House had it allowed a longer session. They had to account and answer for a lot of things which they could not and hence they rushed through the session in utter haste,he remarked, while adding, that the Congress will pursue them outside the House and put them in dock. The PCC president pointed out that since it was the last session of the current assembly the government was supposed to present its balance sheet. They simply ran away as they had nothing positive to show in their balancesheet. Their only achievement was the series of scams like the transport scam,PTC scam, the kerosene scam, liquor scam, sand scam and much more, he said. Reiterating his challenge to the Akalis to prove that they had fulfilled even a single of the 200 promises they had made in the election manifesto,he said the government had to answer for its failures to fulfill the promises such as being a power surplus state, employment generation,Adarsh schools, free health insurance cover to poor and much more made in the manifesto at the time of elections.
