CTU driver,conductor assaulted by autorickshaw drivers

Chandigarh: A conductor and a driver of a CTU bus were allegedly beaten up by unknown persons. The two suffered injuries and were admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital,Sector 32. Didar Singh,conductor of a CTU bus and a resident of Manimajra,alleged that drivers of three-wheelers assaulted him as well as the driver of the bus,Surjit Singh,and threatened them. The incident occurred Sunday morning at ISBT Sector 43. As per the complainant,they were on duty when an autorickshaw asked them for space to pass,following which a quarrel ensued. Once the bus was parked,around 10 to 12 drivers of auto rickshaws gathered and allegedly attacked the duo with sticks. Police has registered a case against unknown persons. Further investigation in the case is going on.

Ambala elections held peacefully

Ambala: The municipal corporation election in Ambala witnessed 61 per cent polling and was largely peaceful,apart from a scuffle. Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Shekhar Vidyarthi said that the election was smooth,fair and peaceful. A control room was set up at the ADC office from where complaints and problems faced by the candidates during the election were received and solved on the spot.
