Chandigarh: UT Home Secretary-cum-Secretary Transport Anil Kumar visited the bus terminus of Sector 17 and Sector 43 along with officers from the Transport,Engineering and Architecture Department. He observed that the sanitation conditions were not up to the mark. He directed the officials to take immediate steps.
11 units demolished by CHB team
Chandigarh: A demolition drive was conducted in Sector 19 by a team of officials from the Chandigarh Housing Board. The team demolished 11 dwelling units during the drive. Officials stated that similar drives would be conducted to check encroachments and violations.
AIDS awareness programme held
Chandigarh: The Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society organised an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS at Elante Mall on Friday. The objective was to create awareness about HIV/AIDS and its possible causes,prevention of the disease,mitigation of impact of HIV/AIDS in the workplace,care and support of workers infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and elimination of stigma and discrimination attached with HIV.
India behind on filing patents: Kardam
CHANDIGARH: India is way behind the other countries in the filing of patents. The number of patents filed in the country is much lesser than what are being filed in the other countries of the world. Disclosing this here today,Dr K S Kardam,deputy controller of patents and designs and head patent office Delhi,Ministry of Commerce and Industry,however said that the 2011-20 has been declared as the decade of innovation.
