Pawan Bansals elder brother passes away
Chandigarh: H R Bansal,elder brother of Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Water Resources Pawan Kumar Bansal passed away in Panchkula on Monday. The cremation will take place at Manimajra Cremation Ground on January 31 at 10 am.
Rickshaw-puller gets 7-year jail for sodomy
Chandigarh: A local court today awarded seven-year rigorous imprisonment to a 35-year-old man for sodomising a 12-year-old boy. The accused was identified as Radhe Mohan. As per police officials,Mohan works as a rickshaw-puller. A case was registered against him for sodomising the deaf and dumb boy on April 2 last year. The court has also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on the accused.
35-year-old arrested for attempted rape
CHANDIGARH: Police today arrested a native of Uttar Pradesh on charges of allegedly trying to rape a 25-year-old Derabassi resident on Monday evening. The accused,identified as Sampuran,was arrested by the police. The accused is a rickshaw puller and stayed near PGI. SHO-11,Inspector Gurmukh Singh said,The victim has alleged that the accused had raped her on previous occasions too. We have registered a case.
