Four nurses suspended at General Hospital

PANCHKULA: Following the inquiry in the aftermath Chief Parliamentary Secretary,Health,Ram Kishan Fauji’s surprise check,the hospital administration of General Hospital in Sector 6,suspended four nurses – Reema,Renu,Rani and Mukesh. Protesting the suspension,all hospital nurses demonstrated outside the director general’s office and submitted a memorandum to Civil Surgeon Dr VK Bansal. Suspended staff said that the action was taken without a notice and they could not be blamed for cleanliness and dogs roaming around the hospital corridors.

Car in service lane creates panic

CHANDIGARH: An unclaimed car parked in the service lane of Sector 16 on Thursday created panic in the area for almost an hour,police said. Having spotted the car outside a house in the Sector,locals called the police.Police immediately rushed to the spot along with a dog squad and Explosives Vapour Detectors machines.The car was later found to be that of an medical intern,the police said.

Police arrest serial car thief

CHANDIGARH: A special team comprising the technical Cell of the Chandigarh police arrested one person involved in vehicle lifting. Police recovered two four-wheelers and four two-wheeler. Police said Gurpreet Singh alias Rinku son of Jasvir Singh of Mohali was arrested after a specific tip-off.

Man held for trying to abduct minor

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh police on Thursday arrested Rajbir Singh,a city resident for allegedly trying to abduct a minor girl in Industrial Area. Police said Rajbir tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl from her residence in the Industrial area on Thursday morning. However,the parents of the girl raised an alarm and Rajbir was detained by the locals and later handed over to the police.

One arrested with fake currency

SAS NAGAR: Punjab Police have arrested a person with fake currency worth Rs 11,500 from Sector 57. the accused has been identified as Gurmail Singh (27) a resident of Kharar. Apparently,the accused was trying to use the fake currency in the vegetable market. According to police,Gurmail has only studied till class V,but had knowledge of computers.

Case against five persons for assault

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Police has registered a case of rioting,theft and assault against five to seven persons for allegedly hitting a car of a city resident and then assaulting him and his wife. On July 25,Raj Nath Arora,a resident of 172,Advocate Society,Sector 49 A,was driving when he was hit by a Maruti Swift around 9 pm near Timber Market,Sector 26. The car then sped away.
