CHANDIGARH: A farewell function was organised by the faculty of GGDSD College,Sector 32,on the occasion of the elevation of Prof A C Vaid,the Principal of GGDSD College to the Pro Vice-Chancellorship of Apeejay Stya University,Gurgaon.

Besides currently heading the college,he is also a visiting Prof at the University of Fraser Valley,British Columbia in Canada. He has also been a fellow of PU,Chandigarh for three consecutive terms since 2000 and has authored 51 books for under-graduate and post-graduate students of different universities and boards of India. He will be joining his new post as Pro Vice-Chancellor at the university on July 14.

Dadumajra sanitation drive ends in minutes

Chandigarh: An awareness drive for sanitation which was held at Dadumajra turned out to be an eyewash as it did not last even a couple of minutes. The drive was organised by an NGO along with officials of the Municipal Corporation. It involved school students too. The Dadumajra Residents Welfare Association has objected to holding of such a drive. The members stated that people were collected for the awareness drive that started from a park in Dadumajra ended near the government school. Thereafter the school students went back to school and the sweepers returned to their work. The association members allege that the drive did not last long and did not serve any purpose. Officials of the Municipal Corporation,meanwhile said that the awareness drive was organised by an NGO and the civic body had no role to play in it.
