Panchkula: To avoid any untoward incident on Holi,the Panchkula police are ready with a plan of surveillance,which has been circulated among DSPs,SHOs,police post in-charges and traffic inspectors by Panchkula SP Maneesh Chaudhry. All DSPs and SHOs have been asked to have five policemen,equipped with anti-riot gear,in their vehicles (Gypsies).

Court summons Ramdev for book comments

Chandigarh: The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate,Chandigarh,J S Sidhu on Friday day issued summons to Yoga guru Baba Ramdev over a comment made in a book published by Patanjali Yogapeeth. Baba Ramdev has been asked to file a reply by April 28 on a complaint filed by Advocate Arvind Thakur of Global Human Rights Protection Council. The petitioner has alleged that Baba Ramdev has made derogatory comments against Hindus and the Hindu religion in his book Sant Darshan.

FOSWAC’s proposals to save water

Chandigarh: The Federation of Sectors Welfare Association Chandigarh (FOSWAC) has made suggestions to the Municipal Corporation (MC) on water by-laws. The Association has stated that tertiary water should be made available before the coming summer to avoid low water pressure,especially at upper storeys. A proper survey should be got conducted in all residential premises being used for commercial purposes ie offices,paying guest accommodations,clinics or other type of commercial activities and commercial water tariff be levied on all such premises.

‘UK exploring investment avenues’

Chandigarh: Encouraged by the rapid growth of the Indian economy,investors in the United Kingdom are exploring investment opportunities in north India,especially in the field of agriculture,education and infrastructure. This was stated by Jane Sanders,Deputy Head of UK Trade Investment (UKTI),during an interaction with industrialists at Baddi on Friday.

CII,Punjab Govt sign MoU

Chandigarh: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Friday signed an MoU with the Punjab government for a joint partnership to carry out a Skill gap study and analysis of six districts of Punjab. The MoU will help CII create a mechanism to address the needs of both the organised and unorganised sectors. The districts are Mohali,Patiala,Jalandhar,Ludhiana,Amritsar and Bathinda.
