V-C Ahluwalia still on life support
Chandigarh: The condition of Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia,Vice -Chancellor of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University,Fatehgarh Sahib,who was admitted to the PGI two days ago,is still stated to be critical. He is on a life support system and the doctors attending on him say that his blood pressure continues to be fluctuate. Ahluwalia was brought here after he was shot at from close range by an unidentified youth at Fatehgarh Sahib. According to hospital sources,the blood seeping into his lungs was a major cause for concern. Meanwhile the ICU where he is admitted was thronged by VVIPs throughout the day with Punjabs Education Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan and Health Minister Satpal Gosain visited him during the day. The Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal had visited him yesterday and had met his family members and had extended all possible help.
Control rooms set up ahead of SGPC elections
SAS NAGAR: Varun Roojam,Deputy Commissioner Mohali,today announced the setting up of four controls rooms at sub divisional level ahead of the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) elections. Two control rooms have been established at Mohali and one each at Dera Bassi and Kharar. The control rooms will provide information related to SGPC elections. Petition against career scheme dismissed
Chandigarh: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has dismissed the petition filed by Alka Sehgal,Reader,Department of Obstt & Gynaecology,against the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) of GMCH-32,Chandigarh. Sehgal had filed a petition against the CAS giving reasons that this scheme was violating the provision of recruitment rules. She also raised grievance that the implementation of the scheme might affect the seniority fixed by the UPSC. The administrator,UT,Chandigarh had decided to extend the benefit of Career Advancement Scheme to the regular faculty members of GMCH-32,Chandigarh. The court was of the opinion that the original application is misconceived and it deserves to be negatived . Further,it is added that the re-designation scheme will not affect the seniority determined by the UPSC; it will not purport to grant a financial benefit.
Additional charge for GMADA admin head
SAS NAGAR: Sarvjit Singh,Chief Administrator,Greater Mohali Development Authority (GMADA) has been given the additional charge of Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mohali with effect from 3rd August.
