Ankush rallies into semifinal

Playing a controlled game coupled with a fine display of shots,Ankush Arora of Punjab ended the challenge of Abhinav Mahajan with a 6-2,6-0 win to rally into the semi-final stage in the boys' U-14 category in the British Total Tennis AITA talnet Series being played at The British School on Wednesday.

Playing a controlled game coupled with a fine display of shots,Ankush Arora of Punjab ended the challenge of Abhinav Mahajan with a 6-2,6-0 win to rally into the semi-final stage in the boys’ U-14 category in the British Total Tennis AITA talnet Series being played at The British School on Wednesday.

Mahajan was in dominating mode right from the start of the match as claimed the first set with a 6-2 margin before claiming the second set with a 6-0 margin. In another quarter-final encounter in the same category,local lad Sachit Malhotra rallied his way to a 6-3,6-3 win over Rahul Seth of Chandigarh to book a berth in the semi-final stage. Malhotra claimed the first set with a 6-3 margin before claiming the second set with an identical margin. It was also easy going for Chandigarh lad Josh Bhasin as he ended the challenge of Adhhyan of Chandigarh with a 6-1,6-4 win. Bhasin claimed the first set with a 6-1 margin before claiming the second set with a 6-4 margin to advance into the semi-final stage of the championship. In the last quarter-final encounter in the same category,Tegbir Hara of Chandigarh scored a 6-2,6-2 win over Sultan Singh of Chandigarh. Hara claimed the first set with a 6-2 margin before winning the second set with an identical margin. In the boys’ U-12 category,Robin Kapoor of Punjab scored a 6-0,6-1 win over Yashpal Neeraj of Chandigarh to advance ahead into the semi-final stage. Kapoor claimed the first set with a 6-0 margin before winning the second set with a 6-1 margin. In another encounter in the same category,Sabrang Sandal scored a 6-0,6-0 win over Kemp O’ Brien. Sandal won the first set with a 6-0 margin before claiming the second set with an identical margin to rally into the semi-final stage. In another quarter-final encounter in the same category,Parmeet Deol of Chandigarh blanked Hritik Abrol of Chandigarh with a 6-0,6-0 margin. Deol claimed the first set with a 6-0 margin before claiming the second set with a similar margin. In the last quarter-final encounter,Rohit Kumar of Haryana ended the challenge of Siddharh Kapoor with a 6-1,6-2 win. Kumar claimed the first set with a 6-1 margin before claiming the second set with a 6-2 margin.
