Ankit ends Arif’s challenge

Showing a mix of aggressive game coupled with some quick thinking,Ankit Sharma ended the challenge of Arif Akhtar of Indian Oil with a 3-2 (46-55,22-63,59-39,49-40,66-54) win in a match in the 25th Chandigarh Billiards and Snooker Championship on Sunday.

The match started with Arif leading the first two frames match to everyone acceptation but Ankit came back strongly to make it 2-2. In the last frame,Ankit took a commendable lead of 25 points but Arif bounced back and gave Shama a tough time in the last frame. The match was decided eventually on the last ball where Arif make an error as he potted the cue boll in the pocket and giving hand ball to Ankit.

In another match,Sandeep Duggal defeated Chetan in an exciting encounter with a margin of 3-2 (57-31,31-54,71-6,22-56,58-38). Sandeep started with a bang taking the first frame but Chetan came back strongly in the match. In the third frame,Sandeep Duggal hit the break of 52 to claim the frame easily. Sandeep then lost the fourth frame with a margin of 22-56 before claiming the final frame with a margin of 58-38 to win the match.

In junior snooker event,Madhur Mukhi defeated Lakshay Dhamija in one sided affair with a margin of 2-0 (49-30,51-6). In another match in the same category,Rishab Dhamija defeated Chetan by 2-1 (46-55,76-45,33-48).
