The Punjab Police’s anti-drug Special Task Force (STF) has discovered that Avilin, an injection meant for treating allergies of animals, is being used by drug addicts in Mullanpur area. The STF has now written to the health authorities to look into the matter and proceed further so that a case could be registered against the people involved in the illegal practice.

A senior officer of STF told The Indian Express that they received information that a man was administering Avilin injection to people in areas near Mullanpur (New Chandigarh). Following the inputs, a team of Mohali STF apprehended the person (name withheld) who was administering the injection.

“On further investigation, we found that Avilin injection is used for treating allergies of animals. We also found that the addicts were given a 10 ml dose for Rs 100. He had been doing it for the past sometime,” the officer added.

Dr Multani added that after taking the dose, the humans can have a sedative effect and they also feel high which could be the reason that the drug addicts are taking the doses.
