Amritsar court orders bone test on Pak boy to ascertain age

The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Karnail Singh on Friday ordered a bone test by specialised doctors on Pakistani teenager Numan Arshad,who was caught by the Border Security Force two months ago for illegally crossing over to India.

Friday and the next date of hearing has been fixed for April 15. Arshad’s counsel V P S Bhatia said they had presented various documents,including his school certificates,sent to him by his family members and advocates in Lahore.

“The court wants to be sure that he is juvenile and the test has been ordered,” he said,adding that though the BSF had declared him a fidayeen,investigations revealed he was innocent.

The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi had also verified his credentials.

“The police have put up a challan against him for illegal crossing and he faces no charge of terrorism,” said Bhatia.
