An American national, Mathew, was allegedly attacked near Rewari railway station on Sunday afternoon.
Mathew sustained injuries on his head for which he was given medical attention. However, he did not report any loss of money or robbery, said police.
According to the police, Mathew, who works for an Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Faridabad, was on his way from New Delhi to Jaipur and got off the train at Rewari station.
“The victim was travelling alone. He could not give any reason for deboarding at the Rewari station. In his complaint, he told us that after about 90 minutes of his deboarding the train, he was roaming in Rewari where he met two teenagers, about 15-16 year old. He added he was having a conversation with them when all of a sudden somebody hit him with a blunt object on his head and both the teenagers fled from the scene. He could not see the person who had hit him. There was no loss of any money or any other belonging. We got him the medical first-aid and he resumed his journey to Jaipur. No case has been registered as of now”, said Manbir Singh, Superintendent of Police, Rewari.
Singh added that despite being questioned repeatedly, the American could not explain why he decided to deboard the train at the Rewari railway station.
