Amarinder meets Badals to pay condolences

Rising above the political rivalry between him and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal that had turned bitter after Badal and his son Sukhbir Badal were put in jail in a disproportionate assets case during his regime in Punjab,PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh today paid a visit to the Badal house to condole the death of the CMs wife,Surinder Kaur Badal.

This was a rare meeting between the two sworn political foes,who at one point in history worked together in Shiromani Akali Dal before parting ways and baying for each others blood,politically.

Apart from a number of Congress leaders,Captain was accompanied by his wife and Minister of State for External Affairs,Preneet Kaur. Amarinder and others who accompanied him reached the Badal home about noon and spent nearly half an hour to share the grief of the Badal family. Sympathising with the CM,Sukhbir and other members of the Badal family,Amarinder said that death of someone so dear was a great and irreparable loss which can only be faced with courage. The former CM said that the he had personally come to share the grief of Badal family on his and his partys behalf.

The other Congress leaders who accompanied Amarinder included PCC vice-president Lal Singh,general secretary attached Arvind Khanna,senior leader Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa,Mahesh Inder Singh Badal,Sant Brar,Raghubir Singh,Hardeep Inder Singh Badal,Gurdip Singh Khudia,besides other party leaders and legislators.

Earlier,Amarinder with a few of his colleagues landed at Kaljharani village in a chopper where Preneet Kaur and other Congress leaders who had come by road joined him. They all then proceeded towards Badal village in a convoy.
