It was an instant re-connect with Flop Shows days. Spoofs of bureaucracy and moments of laughter with the family…Jaspal Bhatti’s back with his show, and this time,it’s an extension of his film,Thank You Jijaji. A satire on the system, the best part about Bhatti’s new show on Sab Tv is that it’s of Chandigarh,by and for Chandigarh. “That’s right, the new comedy series which will air on August 3 on Sab,has been shot entirely in the city,at our studios in Mad Arts, and has a full Chandigarh cast including our students,” tells Bhatti,‘playing’ on the sensitive relation and place the individual ‘jijaji’ holds in Indian society. “This is one man who holds the highest place in the Indian system…he has to be loved, respected, honoured, and if anything goes wrong with a jijaji,it has catastrophic consequences,” Bhatti plays the central character of a ‘Jija ji’ who uses this ‘position’ to his advantage. “My brother-in-law is a senior IAS officer, and I’m quick to use that connection,” he even carries a card which has ‘Jijaji,brother-in-law of a Senior IAS Officer’,printed on it! “While my brother, the IAS,is frustrated with his ways,I’m playing Jaspal ji’s the usual nagging, cribbing wife,” Savita introduces the cast and crew of Thank You Jijaji. While Sanju Solanki is playing SS Sandhu, the IAS,Manu’s playing the mother,Vyomika and Monica the children,Anil as servant, along with Anoop Sharma,Shailender,Bunty,Simran and Harsimran in other roles. “Lalli Gill’s handled the production and Jasraj Bhatti is our creative director,” adds Savita. There’s another actor,a Class VI student of St John,Shaurya Bhandari, who was picked by Bhatti at the last minute. A taekwondo and lawn tennis player, this talented singer and actor bagged the role after he was spotted at the school’s play,‘The Lion King’!

Catch these ‘mad folks’ on Sab,on August 3,at 10 pm.
