The sole operator of radio autos in the city has alleged harassment at the hands of the Chandigarh Administration as it has failed to pay attention to various representations submitted by the company.

Asia’s first ever radio auto service, running under the banner of Tricity Tours and Travels owned by Colonel V S Dhillon (retd) is trying hard to survive in the business.

Though he claims to have given various representations to the Administration,no action has been taken on his pleas.

At a recent meeting with the State Transport Authority (STA),the problems being faced by the operator were discussed and it was further decided that he may be allowed to hike the fares keeping in mind the rise in LPG prices. The proposal is now lying pending with the Finance department.

Colonel Dhillon has also given representations

to have fixed parking spaces at all important points in the city such as PGI and Panjab University.

Talking to Newsline,Dhillon said,“I recently

met STA officials who said that the matter was under consideration and the required relief would be granted soon. But I still haven’t heard from them and now would be meeting the Finance Secretary on the issue.”

As of now, there are 17 tuk-tuks plying in the city and though the owner wanted to have a 100 vehicle fleet but the constraints have made Dhillon put the plans on hold for now.
