Selected by Prof Nayyar for its wit,humour and contemporary issues,like many of Mahesh’s plays,‘Where There Is A Will’ is also about a dysfunctional Indian family,the head of which Hasmukh Mehta,is a control freak and runs the family’s life completely. He considers his married son a good for nothing,not capable of running a home or his life. “Hasmukh is leading a double life,his secretary is his mistress and the pressures take a toll and Hasmukh passes away when he’s in his late forties,” Prof Nayyar like the pace of the play and is enjoying working with his dedicated team of actors,who are supported by Jasreen Waraich,Henna Singh and Pahul Ahluwalia. While the family waits for the will and a chance to live life to the full,it’s in for a shock as Hasmukh has made sure that he keeps running the family even after his death,making his mistress in charge of the trust to which he’s left the money. “It’s comic how everyone adjusts to this new situation and comes to terms with their own shortcomings and life,’’ adds Prof Nayyar.

For Mahesh Chandghotia,Dr Ruchit Uppal,Dr Rahul Datta and Pritpal,the thrill of being on stage is simply mind-blowing. “It’s such a refreshing change and an outlet for our creativity,’’ Dr Ruchit Uppal goes back to his school days and passion for theatre. For Mahesh,performing on the stage of Tagore Theatre is a dream come true,“it’s exhilarating and can’t wait for the d-day,’’ smiles Mahesh.

The play will be staged at Tagore Theatre on December on 21 and 22 and will be open for the general public. Free passes are available on a first-come-first-served basis at ETHOS in Sector 8.
