940 boxes of English wine seized

The Special Technical Operation Cell of PCR team comprising Sub-Inspector Ghan Sham Rana and Sub- Inspector Mohan Singh of Manimajra police station set up a naka near light point Fun Republic,Manimajra,on the night intervening September 5/6.

About 1.30 am the police stopped a truck (HR64-3922) for checking and recovered 940 boxes of English wine (442 boxes of DSP Black and 498 boxes of Green Label) which were loaded in the truck and were to be supplied illegally at Jodhpur in Rajasthan via Panchkula,Panipat,Rohtak,Rewari and Ajmer.

Truck driver Pawan Singh,a resident of Abdal village,Jammu,was arrested. His accomplice managed to run away. An FIR was registered by the police on charges of cheating,criminal conspiracy and under relevant sections of the Excise Act. The driver had got documents prepared,stating that he was to transport chemical powder bags. According to police,the accused had twice in the past smuggled liquor to Jodhpur.
