Over 30 trains to face disruption, cancellation in January first week amid line upgrade in Ludhiana’s Ladowal

(File Image)As many as 37 trains will face delays, ranging from 30 minutes to four hours, from Wednesday until January 8 amid the ongoing rail line upgrade at the Ladowal Station near Punjab’s Ludhiana.
According to officials of the Ferozepur Railway Division under Northern Railway, the rail line upgrade has led to significant disruptions in train services across the region for nearly three months. So far, 54 trains, including long and short route trains, have already been cancelled, and 12 are being short-terminated or originated and diverted, leaving passengers grappling with travel uncertainties.
Ferozepur Railway Division officials said several passengers have cancelled their tickets and demanded full refunds. While the Railway officials have assured that the disruptions are temporary and services will be restored soon, the scale of the delays has forced travellers to seek other options for their journeys.
Among the 37 trains, which have been rescheduled or regulated, include:
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Dr Ambedkar Nagar on January 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 with a delay of 50 minutes to 200 minutes
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj-Amritsar (11057): a delay between 160 to 310 minutes from December 31 to January 6
Jayanagar-Amritsar (14649/14673): delays of up to 260 minutes from January 1 to January 7
Nanded-Amritsar (12421): delayed by 95 minutes on January 1
Sealdah-Amritsar: to be delayed by 200 minutes on January 3
Durg-Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (12549): to be delayed by 290 minutes on January 7
Mumbai Central-Amritsar: to be delayed by 30 minutes on January 7
New Jalpaiguri-Amritsar (12407): delayed by 150 minutes on January 1
Malwa Express (12920): to be delayed by 50 to 200 minutes between January 3 to 8
Amritsar-Kolkata: to be delayed by 150 minutes on January 5
Indian Railways officials said the situation will improve once the upgrade work is completed, and advised passengers to check for updates and be prepared for possible delays. They also said they are refunding ticket money for the cancelled trains.
