3 held,cops say robbery bid foiled

Three persons,including two women,were arrested on Monday night,while they were allegedly planning a robbery bid in the Industrial area,Phase II.

Working on a tip-off,the Panchkula police reached the spot and arrested the trio. They also recovered three cartridges and a homemade pistol from them.

It was late last night that we received information that four persons were planning a robbery bid. We reached the spot and arrested three of them Maya alias Preet Kaur (35),Lajjo Devi (35),and Harish Kumar while the fourth managed to escape, said a police officer,while adding that the trio was sent to four days police remand by a local court today.

A case under Sections 398 (Attempt to commit robbery or dacoity when armed with deadly weapons) and 401 (Punishment for belonging to gang of thieves) of the IPC has been registered.
