3 acquitted in attempted robbery case

The acquittal came after the contention put forth by the defence counsel,Jitendar Sharma,that there was no eyewitness to the claims of robbery which the police had made. As per the police case,they got the information that the three accused were trying to rob people and were armed with iron rods,following which they made a plan to arrest them. Also,police disclosed in the court that in order to ensure that the accused didn’t flee from the spot,they switched off the light of the vehicle and followed a Tata 407 on the road near Little Flower school and the accused tried to rob the Tata vehicle driver,who,however,sped from the place.

Police also said that the robbers tried to loot the police personnel who were in the vehicle but the alert officials managed to nab them. The case was registered against the three under sections 398 and 401 of IPC for committing the robbery with a deadly weapon in a group. The case was registered at sector-14 police station and the police claimed that the information was developed by a special team of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of district police. However,Sharma said that there was no independent witness in the case,due to which the prosecution couldn’t prove its case in the court. Sharma also added that police had made recovery of three mobile phones from one of the accused in the case,Govinda,for which he has already served the judicial custody from a lower court.
