10-month-old girl falls into tank,dies

A 10-month old girl died after falling into a 3-foot-deep water tank which was left uncovered while playing inside her house at Ram Darbar on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1 pm when Rani was playing inside the house. Rani’s mother had left her playing and went inside the kitchen to cook. After a while,when she returned,she did not find her daughter anywhere in the house. Rani was found lying inside the tank. The child was taken out and rushed to GMCH-32 where doctors declared her dead on arrival,police said.

“While playing,Rani accidentally fell inside the water tank that was left uncovered. The water tank was being used by the family to store water for their own consumption,” a police official said.

Rani’s father Virender Shah,who works as a vegetable vendor,told the police about the incident in the evening.
