Two killed, more than 20 injured as private bus topples in Bengaluru

Police added that more than 20 people were injured in the incident and admitted at various private hospitals and two of them are in a critical condition.

Two people were killed and more than 20 injured in a road accident when a private bus toppled on national highway- 4 at Bhuvanahalli near Bengaluru International airport on Wednesday morning.

The Devanahalli traffic police said that the deceased are identified as Nagendra, 19, a resident of Chikkaballapura and cleaner in the same bus and another as Murali Kumar, 25, a resident of Irigenahalli near Vijayapura and an accountant with private finance firm in Bengaluru city.

Police added that more than 20 people were injured in the incident and admitted at various private hospitals and two of them are in a critical condition. The tragic incident occurred around 8.15 am, when it was carrying more than 50 passengers from Chikkaballapura to Bengaluru city. The driver lost control over the bus due to heavy speed and it toppled in road. The cleaner Nagendra, who was at the door was killed at the spot as he stuck under the bus when it toppled left side and Kumar too declared brought dead in a hospital.

The Devanahalli traffic police have taken up a rash and negligence case against driver, who is absconding. “The driver fled from the scene soon after the incident fearing public ire. We are searching for the driver and got information that he too was injured in the incident,” a police officer said.
