Turkish woman, 8 others held in Bengaluru for ‘running prostitution racket’ using Telegram
The prime accused Bioinyaz, who is a native of Turkey, came to India 15 years ago, the Bengaluru police said. She got involved in the prostitution racket after her husband’s death.

In a covert operation, the Bengaluru city police arrested nine people, including a Turkish woman, for running a prostitution racket using Telegram and other mobile applications.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bioinyaz Swamy Gowda, 40, a resident of Cooke town; Akshay J, 32, a resident of Nandini Layout; Govindraj, 34, a resident of Parappana Agrahara; Laggere resident Vaishak V Chatloor, 22, Prakash K, 32, of Mahalakshmi Layout, Odisha natives Manoj Das, 23, and Pramod Kumar, 31, and Peenya resident Jithendra Sahoo, 43.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda said on Tuesday that they ran the racket using seven women, including five foreigners. The prime accused Bioinyaz, who is a native of Turkey, came to India 15 years ago. She has been part of the racket for at least eight to 10 years.
Fifteen years ago, Bioinyaz married Rohith Swamy Gowda, a Bengaluru-based businessman whom she met in Turkey. They came to India, but Rohith died 10 years ago. Later, Bioinyaz got into prostitution, the police said.
Ulsoor police initiated the investigation based on a tip-off. “We came to know about this racket being run on Telegram where they have a channel named Bengaluru Dating Club. There, they used to post photos of women and were luring customers. One of our informants cracked a deal in the disguise of a customer. We nabbed the gang when they were in a room at Leela Park hotel in Domlur,” said a police officer.
Officers found that the racket brought in women from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Turkey and other countries. Bioinyaz lives in Cooke town with her nine-year-old daughter. This is the first time that she has come under the police radar in all these years, they added.
A police officer said Bioinyaz has connections across India and layers of agents under her. She is suspected to have operated in other major cities of the country as well.
