Metro work: Traffic snarls on Bengaluru ORR near Sarjapur Road junction to continue for another 45 days
The flyover from Silk Board towards Ibblur in Bengaluru will be open for commuters while the flyover from Ibblur to Silk Board will be closed from 8 pm on Friday to Saturday evening.

Traffic bottlenecks on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) are expected to last another 45 days near the Sarjapur Road junction due to construction works for the Bengaluru Metro, while it will continue into the weekend near the HSR Layout region as per an advisory.
The repair work by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on the flyover near the HSR Layout has resulted in major traffic snarls in the region over the last 10 days. Children commuting to schools in Koramangala from the Sarjapur area were stuck in traffic for nearly two hours recently and reached the schools at 10 am instead of 8 am.
The Bengaluru traffic police announced Friday that the BMRCL repair work on the flyover will continue on Friday and Saturday and issued an advisory for all commuters on the Outer Ring Road. While the flyover from Silk Board to Ibblur will be open, the flyover from Ibblur to Silk Board will be closed, the police said.
“Due to scheduled BMRCL repair work on 14th main flyover, the flyover from Silk Board towards Ibblur will be open for commuters and flyover from Ibblur towards Silk Board will be closed from 21.02.25 @8:00 PM to 22.02.25 evening. The commuters are advised to use service road from 19th main towards Silk Board and other alternative routes,” the advisory stated.
The BMRCL has, meanwhile, issued a notice to the state that traffic could be disrupted for 45 days near Sarjapur junction due to the construction of four pillars for the Metro rail line work. “…construction of 04 pillars for the Metro Rail Line will commence on 19.02.2025 along the Outer Ring Road service road, near Pillar No. 163 to 167, towards Sarjapur,” it said this week.
“As a result, barricades have been installed on both the service road and the main road aIong the affected route – from the Outer Ring Road – 27th Main Road flyover down ramp – to Ibbalur Government School. Traffic movement on both roads will be slow during this period,” the BMRCL added.
On February 12, the traffic police stated that the flyover near HSR Layout was being shut for the ongoing Metro construction. The closure led to significant traffic buildup on the Outer Ring Road.
Special Metro services for Women’s Premier League matches
The BMRCL has, meanwhile, announced the extension of Metro services for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Cricket 2025 matches at the KSCA stadium on February 21, 22, 24-28, and March 1, 2025. “…BMRCL will be extending the Metro train services on both Purple and Green Lines on the match days,” the metro rail corporation said.
“The last train service from the four terminal metro stations of Purple & Green Lines – Challaghatta, Whitefield, Madavara and Silk Institute – will be upto 11.20 pm and the last train from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic towards all four directions will be 11.55 pm,” the BMRCL said.
