2 police officers suspended in Bengaluru day after viral video claimed they were collecting bribes
A police officer said that the duo reportedly collected food parcels and water bottles from a roadside hotel while vendors handed over cash to them.
Reacting to the incident, Saidulu Adavath, Deputy Commissioner of Police, north division, said that the two policemen were suspended based on the report.A day after a video of patrolling police accepting bribes went viral, the Bengaluru city police on Wednesday suspended an assistant sub-inspector, a head constable and the driver of the patrolling vehicle.
The video, which went viral, showed a person confronting the police officers who were sitting in a vehicle. The video then showed people slowly gathering and the police vehicle speeding away.
People were also heard running behind the vehicle shouting “thief” and “police thief” in the video. The video also claimed that the policemen were collecting bribes from the public.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, north division, who had ordered a probe, found out that assistant police sub-inspector Ramalingaiah and head constable Prasanna Kumar of the Rajagopal Nagar police station were guilty of collecting bribes.

Reacting to the incident, Saidulu Adavath, Deputy Commissioner of Police, north division, said that the two policemen were suspended based on the report filed by the jurisdictional inspector who had conducted a probe and had submitted a report. It was also found out that the two accused were not wearing their body cameras.
The jurisdictional ACP has been asked to conduct a detailed probe.
